RV-20E

High Load capacity gearbox

Cycloidal Gearbox

The RV cycloidal gearbox is a high-precision, heavy-duty reducer designed for robotics, CNC machines, and industrial automation, offering extremely low backlash (<1 arcmin), high torsional rigidity, and long service life. It combines planetary and cycloidal gear stages to deliver high torque transmission in a compact design with excellent positioning accuracy.

Key Features

  • High Precision: Backlash ≤ 1 arcmin ensures accurate positioning.
  • High Torque Capacity: Models range from ~137 Nm up to 34,300 Nm depending on size.
  • Compact & Rigid Design: Roller-based transmission provides high torsional stiffness and shock resistance.
  • Durability: Designed for continuous heavy-duty operation with long service life.
  • Efficiency: ≥80% efficiency with low hysteresis loss.
  • Load Handling: Can withstand emergency stop loads up to 5× rated torque

Applications

  • Industrial Robots: Commonly used in J1–J3 joints for waist, shoulder, and elbow due to high moment load capacity.
  • CNC Machines: Rotary tables and spindle drives requiring precision and rigidity.
  • Automation Systems: Packaging, palletizing, and production lines.
  • Heavy-Duty Equipment: Solar technology, robotic positioners, and intelligent machinery
  • CNC machining centers, revolver tool feeders, and rotary table
  • CNC machine on rotating axis
  • Scientific instruments
  • Robotics
  • Aerospace systems
  • Transmission systems
  • Robot positioners

Advantages Over Conventional Gearboxes

  • Multi-tooth engagement: 30–50% of teeth in contact simultaneously → higher shock load resistance.
  • Low noise (<65 dB): Suitable for sensitive automation environments.
  • Compact footprint: Ideal for integrated designs where space is limited.
  • High reliability: Maintains constant operating behavior over its service life.

Considerations & Trade-offs

  • Speed Limitation: Larger RV models have relatively low max input speeds (20–60 rpm), making them unsuitable for ultra-high-speed applications.
  • Cost: Precision reducers are more expensive than standard gearboxes.
  • Integration: Requires careful motor adapter selection and bearing support for optimal performance.
